One of my classes, that I've taught for 8 months, has gone from being hell to being awesome. So of course, it gets canceled.
There's only 2 students, which is supposedly the reason it's been canceled, and in my opinion, it's one of the best classes the school offers for the elder students.
It's based on CNN news clips and it makes them listen and learn vocabulary and actually instigates a lot of good conversation.
It was bad when it was only 2 students and one of those students was an obnoxious boy who would always declare "I am genius!" and refuse to do any of his work. Phone calls to his mother did nothing because she wears rose-colored glasses and her son is infalliable. He would berate the other student, a girl, as well as me and the other Korean teacher and the secretaries. I was so glad when he dropped.
When I started to teach it, there were 8 kids, then one day, when my boss was on a tangent, she barged into a class and reamed us out (myself included. suffice to say we had a nice chat on appropriate classroom behavior on her behalf. sad to say, she hasn't learned that yelling at teachers in front of the students is NOT appropriate. but she's another story...) and the next month, 5 of the students switched to a different hagwon because of her.
Kelly drew a Panda to go with Friday's lesson

It's so frustrating to actually try to get the kids to talk, and with these two, we've made some serious progress where I don't even have to force or prompt them to talk to me, when we start class, they'll automatically just talk to me and tell me things and ask questions.
Argh, stupid boss.
I'm going to miss them.
